VinMotion Motion 1

Synchronized humanoid performance for the public, including the A80 national celebrations.

Motion 1 is VinMotion’s first full-size humanoid. I work on it as a robotics engineer. The mechanical, electronic, and software stack was built in-house, and the public moments below are the ones that put the robot in front of people who were not a lab audience.

On stage for A80

With Motion 1 at the A80 event.

In August 2025, Motion 1 performed live in Hanoi at the groundbreaking and inauguration of 250 projects held for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. Party Chief Tô Lâm and Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính were in the audience. The robots walked, waved, and gestured, as a first look at machines meant for production lines, services, and daily life. The same platform was shown at the National Achievement Exhibition at the National Exposition Centre.

Earlier that month, on 8 August 2025, a group of the robots danced in sync at Vingroup’s 32nd anniversary in front of more than 1,000 people. Chairman Nguyễn Trung Quân described the routine as more than a fixed script: the robots used distance sensors to stay balanced, and the team had to keep real-time compute and the network between robots tight enough that the group stayed in time even with the Wi-Fi noise of a large crowd.

After the performance

The longer arc is logistics, service, and other settings where a humanoid has to share space with people. VinMotion’s deployment stack is a human-in-the-loop system: robots run in the real environment with an operator in the loop, and that supervision is what the fleet learns from. Motion 1 is the machine that had to prove the idea in public first.
