VinMotion MiniMotion

Compact humanoid for flips, fall recovery, climbing, and balance under load.

MiniMotion is a compact humanoid built to do the moves that are hard to fake: leave the ground, hit it wrong, and stand back up. I work on that motion. The robot is still a prototype. The video is the skill set we were willing to show.

What it can do

The public reel, MiniMotion from Zero to Hero, runs through a stack of skills rather than a single stunt:

  • walking, stepping up, and climbing onto a platform with hands and feet
  • jumping down and landing in a tumble
  • cartwheels, side flips, kip-ups, and backflips, then standing without a person lifting it
  • getting up after a fall, including after a sparring exchange with a second MiniMotion
  • holding balance while an adult climbs on, at a demonstrated load of up to 85 kg, by shifting its joints as the load moves

The flip is the frame people share. The harder part is everything underneath it: recovery on imperfect ground, reacting while another body is in the workspace, and staying upright when the load changes mid-motion. MiniMotion took the stage at Vingroup’s 33rd anniversary after a short build cycle, in front of a few thousand people.
